Ingredients
- 5 pcs Hilsa fish
- 2 cups Normal rice
- 1 cup Chopped onion
- 10-12 pcs Green chilies
- 1/2 cup Oil
- 1 and 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 cups Coconut milk
- To taste Salt
Directions:
1Cut hilsa fish into pieces. Wash and drain properly. Use a tissue paper to soak excess water. Marinate fish pieces with some salt and turmeric powder.
2Now heat oil in a pan. Fry both sides of fish till golden brown. Keep them aside. Add 3/4 cup onion and 7/8 green chilies and fry them till golden brown. Keep this aside too.
3Add remaining onion and chilies in oil. Fry for 30 seconds. Add 2 cups of coconut milk, 3 cups of water, salt and turmeric powder. You can add some sugar if you like. But very small amount like 2 tsp. Cover with the lid and bring it to boil. Then add rice which is washed and drained before. Cover and cook on medium-high flame till 80% cooked and the water dried.
4Add and hide fried fish pieces, onion and chilies into the rice. Cover with the lid and simmer it for 10 to 15 minutes on very low flame. After 15 minutes turn the flame off and leave it for another 10 minutes covered. Take the fish pieces out of the rice carefully and lift the rice up & down. Serve hilsa pilaf rice warm with salad.
